Imaging techniques in cardiology
Cardiac computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging provide a realistic insight into the anatomy and function of the heart.
As an alternative or in addition to the established imaging examination methods of stress echocardiography and myocardial scintigraphy, the technical variety includes magnetic resonance imaging (cardio-MRI), computed tomography (cardio-CT) with CT angiography of the coronary arteries (CTA) as well as the nuclear medicine procedures of positron emission tomography (PET) and SPECT (single photon emission computed tomography).
